Charity reading in the Dominican church in Münster: a cooperation with the academy
Dr. Alida Bremer, author, translator and citizen of the city of Münster, honoured for her voluntary commitment, and Hermann Wallmann, chairman of the literary association of Münster, arranged a charity soirée in favour of Johannes-Hospiz last year in late November. Dr. Alida Bremer read from her book “Olivas Garten” (Oliva’s Garden) in the Dominican church, while outside at the Christmas markets an advent atmosphere prevailed. About 50 listeners let themselves gladly be led into another world, to the eastern coast of the Adriatic, to Dalmatia. They received an insight into life stories evoking motifs such as the question of fate, of home country, of leaving and expulsion, of nature, of sorrow and renunciation, but also of humour. The reading was moderated by Hermann Wallmann, who widened the general perspective and presented a detailed insight into the creation and world of this novel. The ties between literature and the work at Johannes-Hospiz consist of just the meaning of stories, of the ability to listen to and accompany the stories told by people in the hospice. That was the main theme at the end of this valuable evening.
