Newsletter January 2016in 2016, Johannes-Hospiz wants to give you again an insight into its activities at regular intervals. It is part of its identity to understand itself as part of the national and international hospice and palliative care movement, which develops and is time and again involved in a process of social dispute and change. Bearing that in mind, we sent an inquiry to prominent personalities in and outside Münster. Our aim was to bring to bear their fame for the concerns of the hospice. Its ethos emphasizes the esteem for all human beings and their different paths through life. A multitude of different voices and their respective messages should be expressed in this way. ... more
EducationCharity reading in the Dominican church in Münster: a cooperation with the academyDr. Alida Bremer, author, translator and citizen of the city of Münster, honoured for her voluntary commitment, and Hermann Wallmann, chairman of the literary association of Münster, arranged a charity soirée in favour of Johannes-Hospiz last year in late November. Dr. Alida Bremer read from her book “Olivas Garten” (Oliva’s Garden) in the Dominican church, while outside at the Christmas markets an advent atmosphere prevailed. Expanding horizonsTwo bills passed on assisted suicide and on improved palliative careIn November 2015, the “Deutsche Bundestag” (German parliament) passed a bill on the reorganisation of assisted suicide, which shall be embodied in the penal code. Any businesslike aiding and abetting of suicide shall be punished in the future. “Businesslike” is defined as an activity of individuals, organisations or associations which is carried out independently and with the intention of repetition regardless of whether there is an intention of gaining any profit or any other benefit. Associations for assisted suicide are definitively forbidden by the bill. ... more |
